An ancient burgher house situated in the historical centre of the city, right on the "Royal Route" in close vicinity of the main entrance gate to Prague Castle. The first written records of the house date back in the 15th century. Well preserved basement rooms are from the Gothic period. Renaissance style is manifested in the the painted beam ceilings while the entrance portal is the result of the Baroque reconstruction of the house. Later adaptations brought new architectural elements, among which are quite outstanding the classicist ones. The last reconstruction faitfully preserved the historical character of the building. Particularly unique is the house facade being connected with the famous 17th century altar painter Peter Brandl, who was born and lived in the house. Due to the demanding reconstruction in 1994-95 the house can offer the public the following historical rooms: Restaurant facilities on the ground floor beneath Renaissance ceilings and on the basement floors I and II beneath Gothic vaults. Hotel-type rooms on the higher floors where the authenticity of history is emphasized also by original period furniture.

Unique room features are views of the King's Road, Prague Castle or the serene Petrin Hill Orchards, hand-painted Renaissance ceilings, original period furniture, specially selected for each room, parquet floors treated with ecologically safe lacquer.

When it's time to have dinner, the hotel U Cerveneho lva (At the Red Lion) restaurant sets exemplary standards of excellent cuisine and service. A wide range of tempting dishes is prepared by the hotel superior chefs in the tradition of the finest Czech or International cuisine and it is to ensure that you will enjoy the very best in taste and quality. The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Seating is available for 25 guests. The restaurant offers Czech, international and vegetarian cuisine. Whenever you become thirsty you can have a glass of wine or an original Czech Pilsner Beer in the hotel tavern. Its interior is pleasant even in the hottest of days, thanks to the centuries old stone walls. The U Cerveneho lva hotel bar located in an original 1350's limestone cellar is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. You can come and choose from a wide variety of mixed drinks, or just have a good cup of coffee in this original Gothic setting.
